The Test Eagles are out to test their strength, eagles aside, by doing the NEVEREST Challenge in 2017. A challenge that simulates climbing Mount Everest!

We will be climbing the equivalent height of Mt Everest (9000 vertical meters)!

We will be taking flight and soaring Mt Ainslie, Canberra on 1st April from 7 am. They say early bird captures the worm and these birds are planning to capture the whole mountain!

More information on the challenge, including purchasing a supporter's shirt can be found on the event website!

Why?

To raise funds for the Australian Himalayan Foundation!

The Australian Himalayan Foundation (AHF) aims to improve the quality of life for people in need in the remote communities of the Himalaya.  The AHF has been working in Nepal for over twelve years. Its key flagship program is the Teacher Training and Quality Education (TTQE)  program which has been operating in the lower Solu Khumbu region of Nepal for over ten years and provides vital teacher training, school supplies, educational resources and scholarship assistance to those most in need. This program supports over 42,000 children in approximately 300 schools and provides training for more than 1700 teachers, ensuring these children receive the type of education that can lift them out of poverty.

When the devastating earthquakes hit Nepal in April and May 2015, they hit the Everest region hard and many AHF supported communities were badly damaged. Since April 2015, the AHF has raised over $1 million for its Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund.  The AHF worked hard to plan and implement a major rebuild program based on the overriding principle of ‘building Nepal back better’ by developing  low cost, earthquake resilient school buildings. However, there is still so much to be done to improve access to quality education in Nepal. By fundraising for the Teacher Training and Quality Education Program, the AHF can provide scholarships to students which cover uniforms, textbooks and tuition fees at a cost of $200AUD per student.
